Our Story
Verne Krige
Verne Krige founded Outline Dance Centre in 1991 with a clear philosophy: teach dancers to dance from within. Over more than three decades, she has built a studio that prioritizes genuine technical training, individuality, and personalized instruction over shortcuts and imitation.
Under Verne's direction, Outline Dance Centre has maintained a 100% AIDT examination pass rate for over 20 years, produced dancers who have achieved Top 10 placement at the IDO World Championships in Germany, and earned multiple provincial titles. These results come from a consistent commitment to doing things properly: direct corrections, exposure to multiple professional influences, and high standards that never compromise for convenience.
Verne's teaching approach is built on the belief that success is a process. She encourages questions, cultivates curiosity, and delivers feedback directly and clearly. Students at Outline learn not just to execute movements, but to understand why they move the way they do.
How We Teach
At Outline Dance Centre, we believe success is a process and a product of constructive criticism from others and oneself. Our studio prioritizes mindful training, hard work, and passion.
We expose our students to multiple professional influences to enhance their development. Dance corrections are delivered directly and clearly to facilitate learning. We encourage questions and cultivate curiosity about improvement.
We reject "copy-paste" teaching methods in favor of legitimate technical training. Every student is treated as an individual. We teach dancers to understand their bodies and their movement, building from the inside out rather than copying shapes.
